Resort Overview

Hermitage Bay occupies a secluded stretch of Antigua's west coast and combines a private beachfront setting with hillside villa accommodations. The property is part of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World collection and can be booked through the Hilton Honors SLH partnership.

The resort closes seasonally from late August through October and is primarily an adults-focused property, although teenagers ages 14 and older are welcome.

Arrival & Transportation

Upon arrival at ANU airport, a Hermitage Bay representative was waiting with a sign and provided fast-track passes through immigration. After clearing customs, guests can find the resort representative at the clearly marked Hermitage Bay desk located outside the terminal area.

Round-trip airport transportation is included for stays of three nights or longer, making arrival and departure virtually stress-free.

The Hillside Garden Pool Villa

We stayed in a Hillside Garden Pool Villa, Room 21, which offered what we felt was the perfect balance between elevated views and convenient access to the resort's main facilities.

The location was high enough to enjoy beautiful scenery while still being close to dining, the beach, and other amenities.

Guests with mobility concerns should be aware that many hillside villas include stairs. Golf carts are available throughout the property, but room selection is still important for accessibility.

Private Plunge Pool & Amenities

Every villa includes a private plunge pool, outdoor seating area, and a minibar stocked with drinks and snacks that are replenished daily.

We found the plunge pool larger than similar pools we have experienced at other luxury properties.

Included activities include kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkeling, windsurfing, and other non-motorized water sports. Morning yoga and Pilates sessions are held in a pavilion near the top of the hillside.

Dining Experience

Dining options include the main restaurant, a pop-up dinner venue at the end of the boardwalk on select evenings, the pool bar, and the beach bar.

One of the highlights of our stay was the evening sushi service offered at the beach bar. The sushi was among the best we have enjoyed outside of Japan.

Although servings were intentionally small, the quality was exceptional. Overall, the food exceeded our expectations and was far beyond what we would typically expect from a traditional all-inclusive resort.

Final Thoughts

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hermitage Bay and would not hesitate to recommend it.

Nearly every guest we met during our visit was a repeat visitor, which speaks volumes about the property's reputation and guest satisfaction.

That said, while we loved the room, staff, food, and overall experience, we did not leave feeling that this would immediately become our go-to redemption year after year.

Given the value of Hilton Free Night Certificates and points, we would choose to explore other luxury properties before returning. That is not a criticism of Hermitage Bay—it is simply a reflection of how many outstanding destinations remain on our travel wish list.
